In addition to celebrating ISF’s 5th anniversary, this year also marks our expansion to Europe for the UCD Imagine Science Film Festival — the first dedicated science film festival to be held in Dublin, Ireland. Watch an excerpt from the festival award ceremony in the video posted above.
Festival jury members included Dr. Barry Gibb (Filmmaker/Science Multimedia Producer, Wellcome Trust), Conor Horgan(Filmmaker/Writer), Nicky Gogan (Producer/Director), Donald Taylor Black (IADT Head of School of Creative Arts), Dr. Graham Love (Science Foundation Ireland, Director of Policy & Communications), Dr. Desmond Fitzgerald (Vice-President for Research, University of College Dublin), and Dr. Alexis Gambis (Filmmaker/Imagine Science Films Artistic Director & Founder).

The SFI Visual Science Award is given to a short film that depicts science in a visually-engaging manner.

SCIENCE EXPRESSION AWARD
The UCD & IADT Science Expression Award supported by SFI – scientists & student teams were challenged to create films that have a strong visual dynamic, perhaps challenging cinematic boundaries and conventions. Stories should be imaginative, provocative, unconventional and original in approach.
